Norfolk Southern has named Jerry W. Hall as vice president of intermodal operations, succeeding Robert E. Huffman, who is retiring on Feb. 1.
Huffman has worked in the railroad industry for 40 years and joined Norfolk Southern in 1998 as senior assistant vice president of intermodal operations, becoming vice president of intermodal operations in 1999.
Hall will be headquartered in Norfolk, Va., and will report to Donald W. Seale, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Hall is a civil engineering graduate of the University of Alabama. He joined Norfolk Southern as a management trainee in Hattiesburg, Miss., and progressed through numerous positions in Norfolk Southern’s transportation department, until his appointment as general manager of the northern region in 2009.
